My name is Monika and I live in Portland, Oregon. Favor Jewelry was founded in 2009 as a way to fulfill my vision to make beautiful, feminine jewelry. I am an informally trained metal smith, gleaning my craft from job training and experimentation. Every piece of jewelry is handmade in my Portland studio. This means every necklace, every earring, is labored over and unique in this world. Using traditional metal working techniques, each item is made to order and in that way, is truly created for the wearer.

I see jewelry not only as an accessory, but as an individual statement of identity and aesthetic. Each piece is worn differently by each person and ultimately reflects its wearer, meaning something different personally and aesthetically to every individual. My pieces are not about the current trend, but about finding a piece that speaks to the individual and echoes their personality. This is the principal philosophy of Favor Jewelry.

I strive to be as ethical and efficient as possible, both in business and personally. As nature provides the beautiful gemstones, metals, and inspiration for Favor, it is our responsibility and desire to protect it. With this in mind, Favor uses purely recycled sterling silver, thus eliminating some of the environmental impact on our planet. In the studio, I recycle my excess metal, use natural products whenever possible, and strive to recycle and reduce waste by minimizing packaging and shipments. Personally, I do not own a car and use my bicycle as needed to run Favor's errands.
